I watched the show that was based on this a couple years ago. I didn't expect the book to be exactly the same, but the details so far have seemed a bit more different than I thought they would be. Curious to see how much different they end up being.

I felt so many different ways about this book over the course of reading it.

Well....I don't like Kiala at all. She's just rud, people are being nice and friendly and she keeps just being bitchy. I fear like this is going to get old and more annoying fast.

I'm coming from a place of love right now (Deonn renewed my faith in Black authors):
Why do authors continue to do this to me. I was cool with William. We rocking with William cuz William's rocking with us—I was cool, happy even. No wishing for another book in site.
But then Mariah (Rootcrafter) got dropped in, then Natasia (Sel's mom) got dropped in, and currently we're back in William's POV but still. I get Deonn is (1) - working up to some kind of reveal by not telling us what's going on with Bree. (2) - keeping tabs on the others; I'm sure there's fans of Sel that are starved for him.
But here’s the thing. Just because I understand why doesn’t mean I like it. Because now my reading rhythm’s thrown off. I signed up to follow Bree’s head through this war; not to juggle four different brains mid-sprint. It’s not even that Mariah and Natasia are bad POVs, it’s just… they’re not her. And when the whole emotional center of the series has been Bree? That shift feels like I’m being locked out of the house I was living in.
Like girl… this was supposed to be Bree vs. the world. Not Bree, Will, Mariah, Natasia & whoever else might show up.
Honestly, if Bree isn’t the primary POV for a majority of this book, I think that’s gonna tank the emotional payoff Deonn's been building since page one of Legendborn.

With all the new people joining because the app is up and running (Yay!!!) I wanted to put a question out there:
When reading a series do you prefer to space out your readings (either with just a few days or an extended period of time) or are you a binge reader for series?
Personally, in the past I’ve been a binge reader! I love sitting down with a series and flying though the books. Still am to some extent, but since joining Pagebound I’ve been trying to read more variety so I haven’t been doing whole series at a time. It’s definitely a different experience, and I’m still trying to decide which one I prefer so I’m curious what everyone else thinks!

I had a bit of a slow September (reading wise) so I'm thinking of reading some shorter books, to get the feeling of ✨speed✨
Do you have suggestions for books that are under 200 pages?
I read mostly fantasy, but I'm trying to expand my horizon, so all suggestions welcome!
This is on my list so far: Sweet bean paste (ok, it's a little over 200) All systems red A wizard of earthsea What moves the dead Upright women wanted
(I have read Thornhedge and the Monk & Robot books (those would be my go to suggestions))

Why are we not getting any character descriptions???? Okay she's blue,, and??? And let's say she's the MC, it's kinda from her pov, it's not easy to describe her face
But Larran? He's tall and muscular AND HIS FACE IS BLANK Also after telling me that she's blue I expect to know the color of all human and human esque characters that appear. Fiction in general does a bad job of this by defaulting to white, but here this is even more frustrating
Why is she blue, what does that matter, is everyone blue on her island, is she another species???

Well hello, it hasn't been long since I found out about pagebound and let me tell you I got ADDICTED Comparing to other apps and sites I have used the community, the variety and if I may say the "fashion" is wayyy more prominent and I have been enjoying it more than I could ever have anticipated
I had been a "Goodreads" user for five years now and I was pretty faithful to it, I lived for the annual voting round, the monthly lists and recently I was getting very into the monthly challenges It was a good start but this year I also had my ✨awakening ✨ let's say in terms of world issues and personal ethics So when someone mentioned that "Goodreads" belonged in Amazon and funded/fueled a billion dollar company that is starting to gain monopoly in books and not alone I tried to find something to replace it and that something was "Fable" I liked that it felt more personal, I joined many bookclubs, I preferred the reviews and rating system compared to GR and was very satisfied overall UNTIL the app really enforced AI into its functions and I could no longer support it
No I found "Pagebound" through Instagram as an alternative to be both and I have been very happy here 🪷💕 I guess what I want to say is I have been trying to find the best version of an ethical book space and has taken a bit of a toll on me, getting used to new functions and all
The community has been great, a big thank you to all of you 🩷🩷🩷

Very excited to announce that you can now download the app on Android!! Google Play approved us this afternoon :) we're still waiting on Apple and will make a big release announcement once both platforms are available.
If you're on Android, we'd love if you give us a download and leave a review. In typical non conformist PB fashion I do find it hilarious that we are available on Android before Apple; a karmic win for all our Android baddies.
Can't wait to see what everyone thinks of the app!!

Can I be vulnerable with y'all?
I'm ashamed to admit I've been a bit envious of how quickly it seems some of you are reading 🫣. I know, very silly. It's just there are so many books I am excited to get to and through, but it's frustrating when it takes me forever to complete only one. I keep stressing my own self out by not reading at an imaginary speed that I set up for myself, or comparing my pace to someone else's. These books are all within my grasp, I just can't manage to get to them quickly enough for my liking.
Work hours are picking up, kiddo needs homework help and quality time with me, domestic duties, spending time with husband, also preparing to further my education to add another certification to my resume, etc. There is always something that needs to be done. I do read at night, in the school pickup line, and on lunch breaks. I have no issues combing out time to read. I love my escape. It's just that it is always short lived.
I'm rambling on to gently remind myself that I need to be okay with my slow reading pace, and I should instead direct my focus on savoring what brings me happiness. It's not a race. Slow motion is still motion.
I am still reading, and that is what is important. ❤️
