I really want to read this book but I am a little confused with all the different versions. How can some be 400 pages while others are 200? This is my first classic so I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions.

I recently got a job at a prestigious college in rural New England that looks very similar to how Hampden College is described. Literally my first day here I was like, "Oh my God, this is just like The Secret History!" And having worked here a few months I can say...there are absolutely students on campus that act and dress like Richard & co. There is apparently a not-so-secret secret student society that has meetings in an old mausoleum thing on campus? I swear there are TSH shenanigans happening around me and I am an oblivious side character. I can absolutely see how Tartt's time at Bennington inspired her to write this, and I feel like I need to reread the book now that I'm basically living in it.
