Overall, I found the idea of having a murder mystery but in a fantasy setting very fun. I LOVED Ana's character and how she was so unashamed of just being who she was, and her confidence was one of my favorite things about her. It also felt to me like Ana was giving us autistic representation and Din was giving us dyslexia representation and I'm so here for both of those. I loved the world this was set in and the foreboding brought on by the Leviathans and the forthcoming wet season. The atmosphere was immersive and the plot was maybe a little simple/straightforward imo but was still very enjoyable. The Sherlock/Watson dynamic between Ana and Din also worked well for me!

Incredible. This is the first book I finished this year and I fear it might end up being the best book I read all year. I thought it was well-paced, and the conclusion didn't go exactly where I thought it was going. We saw multiple characters grow during the book. The descriptions of music throughout the book and pulled me in which I think is hard to do when including music as a large part of a novel. The writing was engaging, and I loved the different sci-fi and fantasy elements that were woven into the book. I also loved the detail with which the author wrote about violins and the descriptions of food and the different locations in the book.

Loved the behind the scenes look at post-death care. This book has also reaffirmed my wish to be composted after I die, but it has also made me want to talk more with my loved ones about my wishes after death as well as finding out theirs. I also really appreciated the discussion about how the more we talk about and are exposed to death, the less we fear it which I think is a really important concept considering how much we avoid death in our society.
