I thought it would be kind of fun to see where in the world people are, and then folks can make friends with people from the same countries/ares (if they way, not pressure obviously).
I'll go first. I'm Canadian, and more specifically I am in British Columbia (Vancouver Island if you want to get fancy).

I have an insatiable craving for literature that is unapologetically queer. MINIMAL Highschool/religious trauma/unrequited push-and-pull plot. Give me passion, give me found family, give me "we're just people who happen to be queer and happy about it". I read "Detransition, baby" and "Stag Dance", the former fit the bill perfectly, the latter was cool too. 1/3 into Sunburn by Chloe Michelle Howarth right now, but it's not the confident queerness I'm looking for. I NEED MOREEE

ā¦anybody got a map
I sure hope enjoying this book is not dependent on the ability to comprehend directions or maps because thatās the main thing I lack

Today is the first day off I've had in a while where I have absolutely nothing I need to do. So I am about to spend the entire day reading. š„°š„°š„°

No, I don't mean in a day. I mean, in a year. So basically, I've very recently realized that I don't read a lot of books outside of summer breaks and holidays. Throughout the whole year, I do a plethora of rereads but the only time I fulfill my short reading goal (because I only count books that are first time reads) is during the summer and then I have a whole lot of pressure to quickly find new books and then read them. Hence, the "short" reading goal, cuz otherwise I'll never be able to fulfill my annual aim lol. I suddenly realized this after joining Pagebound cuz I'm very active on here hehe and I discovered that I've completed a good part of my reading goal within only the past three months. The reason this is concerning is because I think it puts me at risk of going into a reading slump and I'm probably not able to digest the books I read properly cuz I'm always looking ahead for the next book. I think the Pagebound plan option is pretty helpful but I'm a mood reader so I never know which book I'll read next. Outside of summer, I somehow never get the time to start new books or it takes me ages to complete one if I do. Any tips??

Sometimes I'm in the mood for a good cry. I think the last book that made me cry was A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman, which I was not expecting. I'm currently reading Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner, and I already know there will be tears.

This just popped into my mind as a fun way to drum up some conversation between folks and get some solid comment threads! Everyone can list some bookish thing they like or do or experience (only if it hasn't been listed already!!) to start a new thread, and the goal is to build the threads by going through the comments and finding other responses that you relate to and commentinh to that adding a little more detail on your take. And of course, upvote, so we can see whats most common! For example, if someone says "I collect bookmarks" someone else may say "I do too and always match them to my books" (inspired by a little convo I saw recently, if this was you please let me know and I'll happily shout you out directly -> possibly example credit to Atheshootingstar!)
