I really want to get into the weird girl literary fiction type genre, weird girl horror, weird girl anything. I want weird, raw, emotional, maybe slightly gross books written by women.

I’m on a search to find the highest rated book on PB. So far, I’ve found Sunrise on the Reaping at 4.55 stars and 11289 ratings. Close seconds are Six of Crows at 4.52 stars and 11765 ratings and Harry Potter Goblet of Fire with 4.5 stars and 12676 ratings - which is surprising given there are so many 1 star reviews of that book. Have you found any books with a higher rating? Or will Sunrise on the Reaping be crowned queen

I’ve noticed when looking through Pagebound club posts that the comments will be giant because there are so many replies to just one comment, and it’s hard to see multiple comments when the thread is so big. Does this make sense? I was wondering if there are plans to make some sort of ‘view replies’ button to reduce the space it takes up.

“Eminem. M&M. Is there anything more American than a mu-sical artist named after candy? Anything more American than living on a prayer and nothing else?” O- oh. Well not that I can think of…

I’m currently listening to some Lana Del Rey and since she references so much literature, it provoked a thought: has a piece of music ever made you read a book?

A general question, but where do you all get your recommendations from for books? Every so often I surf a particular sea and look at new releases and like anything that I think sounds interesting or good, I install download it on my kindle or I’ll look through Pinterest for recommendations. But I’m curious as to how everyone finds books to read so please let me know so we can all maybe find recommendations. Any unconventional or unusual ways. Bookshop wandering. I want to hear about everything! ✨

bad writing, predictable ending
description of the murders felt creepy and weird, Jenna is this ‘great cop’ but she didn’t suspect the most obvious person? And there were phrases/plot points that were overused and boring.
I don’t like Patterson- my dad was listening to an audiobook and obviously I had to find out how it ends

it's been so long since i've struggled to put a book down. i was constantly chomping at the bit to keep reading, at the risk of my sleep and my scheduled antidepressant dose time.
The Serious Review bit:
This is a wonderfully constructed urban fantasy narrated by our main character, Claire. She's witty, funny, relatable, and insane in the best of ways. The plot itself had me guessing until the last minute, with so much going on that it was difficult to predict what would happen next. And all the characters are so well established! Even if they don't appear for very long, each one has their own motivations and desires. It adds a lot of dimension to the story and makes for such a fun read.
There were a few formatting issues I found in the e-book (i got mine on Kobo), but the story itself is so good that it didn't really impact my overall experience. I just kept reading and reading and reading.
the less serious bit:
i would kill and/or die for Claire. Dreyson is blond and i know that's a deal breaker for some people but i promise he's a great guy. it's all in the details y'know? and that's just Claire and Dreyson. i love so many of the characters in this book, if you're like me and the characters matter a lot to you this book is like free real estate. and that's just the characters. the world building is great. there's so much you learn about it just through context clues which is something i absolutely love. like yes i was confused sometimes but i prefer that over being given everything on a silver infodump platter.
anyway highly recommend, if i could give it more than 5 stars i would.

In celebration of ✨more stats✨, I’m curious if there’s anything in the new details that had any of you like

For me, it was the Superlatives for March. According to Most Anticipated, I had apparently had Her Body and Other Parties by Carmen Maria Machado in my library for 1400 days, aka almost 4 years, which yea, sounds about right. Worst is, the stats are still inaccurate (no fault to PB, just too new for my failures), cause The Night Circus, which I read same month, had def been waiting longer 💀
