Idk how to pick emoji for this honestly 😅

I actually rated every chapter as I read it and the average rating was 4.14 -- my favorite story was definitely My Sad Dead by Mariana Enriquez.

I read it mostly because of HRCYED's Anthology prompt so I'm excited to read more from these authors!

  • To Reread or Not to Reread? (Series and New ARCs)

Does anyone else feel trapped in a new release to series reread cycle? Especially with ARCs where there's a bit of a time crunch? If I read a series ages ago and a new book drops, I do want to reread the other books before jumping in to give it a fair comparison to the other books in a series.

And as a mood reader it just gets risky that I won't even get to the sequel after the reread! For instance: The Strength of the Few was coming out so I reread The Will of the Many (and loved it even more a second time) andddd then I soft DNFed the sequel less than 10% in because I was no longer in the right headspace/it wasn't exactly what I was expecting. I'll hopefully still get to it when I'm ready, but I didn't get my ARC review in 😭!

Now I just was very graciously given the audio ARC for Victorious by V. E. Schwab and... I'm realizing I haven't read the first two books in 4.5 years. But I'm nervous to reread for two reasons-- what if I reread and lose the mood for Victorious anyway? And to a lesser extent-- it's 4.5 years not 5 so that's two books that I'd be reading that couldn't count towards the Hardest Reading Challenge You'll Ever Do 3.0. I'm really working towards that one because it's my first year since a major reading slump led to me abandoning 1.0, and I'm not as fast a reader as I used to be.

I know these are such non-issues but does anyone have advice? Should I just get over it and reread or is there another way to get a refresher for what happened in the first two books so I can give the ARC a fair shake? (I know that part of the solution is STOP REQUESTING ARCS IN SERIES but what can I say it's apparently a habit)

  • Recs based on a specific book: forum or club?

I wanted recommendations based off a specific book so I made a post on the forum of the book because, well it meant it was more likely to be seen by people who have read it. But should I have posted it here in the Club? Just stating the book? I don't know if I made the right decision. Can someone tell me? 🥲

If anyone has any tips for how you organise your monthly reads or next book picks please let me know!! Sincerely, a book girly with too many books on her physical TBR🥺

  • To no one’s shock or chagrin, I’m besotted by Midnight Mode

Just opened this app after updating and I am head over heels in love with how Midnight Mode looks. It feels so unique as far as Dark Mode concepts go, and I love how easy everything is on the eyes. I thoroughly enjoyed the default Standard Mode, but this version just takes it up several additional notches. I’m not afraid to go forth and never prefer the standard version again! Thank you endlessly, Lucy and Jennifer, for all your contributions towards this beautiful app <3

  • Need witchy/ spooky books with romance but not horror

I have been searching books with a certain vibe, supernatural, spooky, witchy but not necessarily horror with romantic subplots. Preferably adult characters and bipoc authors, not really into YA. Please send recommendations ❤️‍🔥
