I loved loved this book. This is the story of a woman. Not a siren, a succubus, or a saint. Not despicable or flawless. A real woman in all her power and vanity and ruthlessness and love.
I listened to the audiobook and the narration by Adjoa Andoh was phenomenal. She gave it her all and I wept (I’m pretty sure WITH her??) at the end.
I quite liked how her romantic partners were there and her feelings for them are made clear, but their parts remain small and their character thus somewhat underdeveloped. Women are so often portrayed through the relations to men, I am glad she got to be her own person.
