  • looking for interactive book recommendations!!

Think codes and puzzles built into the text. I've heard of House of Leaves - does anyone know other books that are similarly format-bending? I don't mind the genre but I think interactive stories are super cool. I was reading some old middle-grade detective novels that had hidden ciphers built in, and kept thinking how much fun it would be to work out another sort of book like that.

  • Spring Appreciation Post

I woke up this morning, took my puppy outside, and sat down in the early morning sun with the book I’m currently reading. Birds were chirping, and the clouds were still the color of cotton candy from the sunrise. Just thinking about how grateful I am to have an outdoor space to read and that spring is finally here! I think that the outdoors is truly my favorite reading spot.

What are some of your favorite reading spots in the spring/summer?

Thoughts from 8% (end of chapter 1)

I knew his father traveled a great deal during the Revolution, but I'd forgotten that he took John Quincy with him. It's almost impossible to imagine allowing your fourteen year old child go off with a friend to Russia as his secretary! Plus, getting a degree from Harvard in fifteen months! It's amazing how much life has changed in two hundred years.

After seeing the Decagon floor plan, this is definitely giving Dangan Ronpa and I'm so excited!! I hope we're gonna be playing detectives alongside the other characters for this and use the provided illustrations along the way

So glad I have the ebook for this too and see the little map and floor plan

“He had to kill them in order, one by one. Precisely like that story written by the famous British writer-slowly, one after the other.”

Does anyone know which book he’s referring to?

All I can think of is Anthony Horrowitz’s ‘I know what you did last Wednesday’ but it can’t be that 😂

    Thought before starting (0%)

This will be my first modern translated Japanese outside of a manga. I'd heard of the book before I saw it was part of the Cherry Blossom read-along. The description sounds right up my alley, with haunting and the past playing a part in the present. I'm so happy my hold finally came in this week, so I'm able to read it in time.

  • Using spoiler tag on forum posts about nonfiction books

I am speaking about forum posts on nonfiction books. And I am not sure when to use the spoiler tag. The only use case I can think of is when the contents of the post is too disturbing for casual viewers. But I mostly read historical accounts and essay collections.

Do you use the spoiler tag while reading nonfiction?

  • Beginner doubt!

What do you think about people like me who reads popular books? I know we should read classic books like the ones we study in literature. But, i can't understand or enjoy reading those. I have seen many people degrading readers who read popular gen-z books?? Idk what is right? 🙃

I thought it would be kind of fun to see where in the world people are, and then folks can make friends with people from the same countries/areas (if they way, not pressure obviously).

I'll go first. I'm Canadian, and more specifically I am in British Columbia (Vancouver Island if you want to get fancy).

Try to find your country and join that thread!

    Everyone else?
