Iām from a small town and struggling to source books. Our county library uses BorrowBox, and I donāt read enough to justify Kindle Unlimited, I have access to Prime Reading, but really if I want to read a book I have to hope my library has it or itās on BorrowBox and for the types of books I read, itās rare I find something.
Of the 3 Dia de los Muertos books, my library only has 1 copy of cemetery boys shared amongst 11 libraries (and even then its usual home is a high school library) š¤£
Does anyone else have this problem and can commiserate over the difficulty that can be living in rural areas and getting access to affordable books or just books in general.
Side note, does anyone remember pre-Netflix order a dvd and get it delivered, post it back and get another one? Can we have that for books a country wide library, to sign up and order a book from anywhere and not just your county. š¤£

This was a very different read then Iām used to, I thought it would be a slog to get through, but after I committed to reading the third chapter, I simply found I couldnāt put it down.
I had notes, a table to remind me of who was who and my predictions for how they matched with the rhyme (it changed many times, but at some point I did have the right ending - however I got misdirected by the plot and everything else. Overthinking unfortunetly is my downfall)
At first the prose put me off, unaccustomed as I was to the use of colons to denote a character speech, and there was a lot of dialogue, and little discriptions. Vera liked to cry a lot, and the characters names changed from Miss Emily Brent, to Emily, to Miss Brent, hence why I found my table very handy at the start.
I finished this in a night, and Iām glad I opened my horizons and gave it a chance. Iām off to watch the BBC adaption now :D

I canāt decide if Iām put off by the writing style or if Iām just unaccustomed to it. Iām just hyper aware that the dialogue is all denoted by a colon. Which yes colons can signify quotes, itās just something I havenāt come across in my fiction before.
Iām leaning towards the later.
