I finally understand Liz now, my heart aches for her. It’s frustrating that almost no one, except Hugh, truly listens to her or takes the time to really talk to her. Everyone seems blind to the fact that Mark is abusing her, and Caiomhe’s actions were especially disappointing. All Liz really needs is understanding, patience, and love. I deeply admire Hugh for his patience and unwavering support. In contrast, Liz’s mother turns a blind eye to what’s happening, and her father seems emotionally distant, lacking deep concern for his children.

What hurts most is how Liz was labeled crazy as a child because of her delayed speech and early psychiatric evaluation. Since then, no one believes her, which leads her to doubt her own thoughts and perceptions. I also found the repeated focus on her sexual cravings with Hugh somewhat unnecessary and drawn out.

Although the ending isn’t happy, I believe it was the right one. Not all stories need happy endings, and this felt realistic, even if Hugh deserves so much more.

Action packed, lots of mystery, betrayal, friendship. Rachel Gillig did not disappoint on this one. And the gargoyle, Bartholomew made the story more interesting and kind of comical. He's both funny and wise. I hope he is still present in the next book
