An easy read. Writing didn't feel especially compelling to me.

This book made me cry. Powerful female protagonist with a clear and interesting character arc, a bit of queer romance, intriguing and whimsically illustrated magical worldbuilding, and the love for family and home that ties it all together.
Will definitely be reading this again.

Some top notch banter: from 29% (page 113)

When Pepper is sick and telling Opal how to care for the flowers, they have this fun exchange:

“‘Flowers are thirsty little sluts. Got it.’ ‘Don’t call the flowers sluts,’ Pepper says, brow still furrowed but a soft curl of a smile trying to pull through. ‘Respect the flowers’ delicate constitutions and fear of profanity. Understood.’”

    XD

Really excited to start this one. I listened to the author, Mazey Eddings, speak on this book on a queer romance panel last year, & a sapphic, neurodivergent romance sounds like just my cup of tea right now.
