I was recommended this because of the gorgeous artwork, and while it is gorgeous and I loved it. The plot wasn't there. Now before I get someone mad because I didn't know this medium, I usually read a short synopsis so I don't expect anything. I want to be immersed in the story and not just witnessing it. I grew frustrated because I couldn't connect with the characters. Since it was a graphic novel, I didn't DNF it but I was left wanting. I don't mind slice of life, but I want something with more story and sadly gorgeous artwork can't compensate for that much

So i will start this off by saying that Kingfisher is an absolute auto-buy for me and it is a bit of a problem because she has such a catalog that it takes me a while to get through them all (I also have other books and authors that demand my attention dammit). And while I knew that this was a Snow White retelling I was not prepared for it to go that route. And just as I was finishing (~95%) T. Kingfisher snuck one more surprise in.
Such a great read and I am only saddened that it is a standalone.
