i've just read a whole blurb thinking all the while this looks interesting. I move to add it to my tbr, and... SURPRISE! I've read it already. 3 years ago apparently How could the blurb not even remind me of anything?? Even after seeing the evidence that I have read it, still nothing comes to mind lol This not even the only time that this has happened Please tell me I'm not the only one!

So long story short, I saw a movie last night that we thought could have been based on a book (it was not), but it got me thinking about movies based on books. Particularly ones that I wish would just be remade, or had something changed, and I wanted to see what others thought.
For me, I really wish The Giver were just remade. And I somewhat feel the same about The Hobbit, not because The Hobbit was bad, but I would like to see what they did with it if they left it as one movie and put the attention to detail in it that they did with the LOTR series.
For just changing some things, I wish there were some changes to the A Discovery of Witches series, mostly in the last season. However, the last season was filmed during COVID, and some of the changes made sense due to the restrictions. I just kind of wish it could be remade without said restrictions, as some scenes would have just been so nice if more characters were there or they had a bit more freedom in how they went about it đ
What do you all think? Any adaptations you just want redone, or specific things you wish could be changed?

I genuinely need an empathetic mmc, I'm so tired of the "burn the world for you" trope. Yes, I do like it, but it's become so overdone and it's losing its meaning and sometimes not well done.
Give me a man who'd save her AND the people in a burning building. Wdym it's not your business as long as she's alive, when you have the power to save tens, maybe even hundreds of people, including children?? I need a man with softer hobbies or something, why does he ALWAYS have to be a rich shadowdaddy or the strongest knight or just wealthy/rich in general? I'd love to see a normal man for once, and if it's fantasy, the life of a normal person in that world. A man that is good with children, or doesn't know how to fight. Almost every man on booktok nowadays punch someone and they're dead. Also, why do they ALL have to be emotionally unavailable? đ
Personally, I'd always choose a man who cares about others and not just me, over a man who's rude and apathetic to others.
If you have recs, pls help a girl out đ (any genre other than horror will do, and preferably no spice)
btw, I'm not saying I hate all of them or they're all like this. I'm just saying a change would be nice đ

Did anyone else notice that the chapter numbers have a little vine that grows as the story progresses?? Itâs such a cute little detail :) I love when authors decorate their books in a way that really fits the vibe, in this case, with whimsy!

An introduction to the Fantasy genre, these books are part of the cultural zeitgeist or the 'canon' that many would recognize. Look for more niche titles in later Starter Pack volumes.

I think Iâm experiencing a book hang over? At first, I thought Iâm not going to attempt to read another book. Because the last one was so good. Not even 20 minutes have passed, and all I want now is something smutty and completely bad for me. No plot, no character growth, just utter nonsense of a book. đ€Ł
Or maybe Iâm book drunk? You know that feeling when youâre tipsy and a greasy, salty burger sounds like the best thing in the world? Thatâs what Iâm feeling right now. đ€Ł
Does anyone else feel like that after a good book?

my husband and i just bought the full Chronicles of Narnia box set (second hand for $12!!) and i'm so excited to read them with him!
context: he is learning english and wanted a novel or novella to help him with reading comprehension. we chose these because while they are for children, they have great vocabulary with easy to follow stories
i'm stoked!
what are your nostalgia books??

Okay last night I was listening to the Hot Fuzz album by The Killers, and for some reason I just felt that music strongly resonated with the emotions I'm feeling from this right now.
