The comparisons are like Bridget Jones or a Sally Rooney novel, but trans, and I think that’s sort of fair? It lives in that genre of dissecting women's relationships, it is equally funny and poignant. But I would add that this book is more than that because it so deeply lives in the complicated world of being trans in ways that doesn’t patronise the reader with “intro to queerdom” bits of exposition, or stereotypes that dilute experiences to make them palatable. It’s not Bridget jones but make it queer, it’s queer, but make it Bridget jones.

I really enjoyed this book a lot more than I thought I would. Within the first 15 mins of the book they unpacked so much and I had to pause for a sec to say “wtf did I just read?” I had so many jaw dropping moments as I read this. The situations and characters are so layered and complex but it helps us really understand who the characters are. I wanted to punch all of main characters in the face and hug them at the same time.

I feel like I haven’t had the best luck with fantasy books. I’ve probably only given one or two a full 5 stars. So I’m here asking for recs. If you had to pick just one fantasy book that’s at the top of your list, what would it be? And if picking one is way too hard, feel free to give me your top three. Bonus points if it doesn’t have spice. No shade to anyone who likes it in their fantasy or romantasy of course, but I think I prefer the spice in just my romance reads.

Magical empires, far-flung galaxies, robotic dystopias, haunted academies—queerness belongs in every world.

I've seen a few videos on my TikTok fyp discussing rating books you DNF. I haven't ever, especially because I'm only getting 1-2 chapters in sometimes. But, I saw a comment saying being able to get through a book is obviously the objective, so why wouldn't you leave a rating about why you couldn't do that? That got me thinking about it again for the books I do get a decent bit through (I recently got 50% into a DNF). I think Pagebound also provides a unique opportunity to give that feedback in the feed rather than a review. What do you think? Are you rating DNFs? Only rating them if you get to a certain point or if it's THAT bad?

Reading them linearly feels painful to me in a way I can't describe. It feels as if the book will never end. It's not exactly hard to see the progress as usual, but I feel like I'm starting something and ending something over and over again, which brings about this feeling of desperation in me. My brain immediately wants to be done with the book entirely after finishing a story, but there's still more shorts to go. But then again, skipping around the book is not perfect either. I end up feeling extremely disorganised. Randomly opening up a story, reading it and then randomly picking up another irks something in me that wants to see the stories finished like dominoes, one at a time. It's hard enough being spontaneous to read a short story collection in the first place, you know I usually do end up skipping around the book regardless, and reading alongside another book to make the whole thing feel like a side quest. But I would love to know how you tackle anthologies on your own. Also, any good recommendations? So far, I've been reading from authors I'm obsessed with and haven't ventured to anthologies from a collection of authors.

I usually read/listen to 3-4 books at a time. The feeling of reading most of your books and now only reading 1 book… the satisfaction!! 🤩🤪 but now I’m back to adding books from my TBR. Ah it didn’t last that long 🥺 Back to my cycle 🔄

Hello friends! I’m planning a 24 hour readathon for Memorial Day weekend (5/23-5/24) and looking for advice from those who have completed one: 1. How do you pick the books you read? Whatever is up next in your TBR or specific types of books to keep your interest? 2. How do you time your readathon? Straight 24 hours (such as 10am-10am) or setting a 24 hour timer and only letting it count down when you’re actually reading (so it may encompass more like 36-48 hours)? 3. General advice on how to stay focused! How did you prepare??

I enjoyed this book. It was a good palate cleanser read. I felt like it was slow paced in the beginning but picked up half way. I love standalone books that leave me feeling satisfied and complete with the way things ended. I look forward to reading Amalfi's Curse next.
