I don't know what is going on with me but I had to pause this again at 48%. Not feeling it. And it is obviously good. Usually I love Sanderson books so maybe it's the excessive hype and expectations around this... I will try again after some other books!

I was wandering, what was the highest number of books you read in a year? And why? In which year did u hit that amazing number?
I read so many books this year, the last years it was so dry, no reading or like up to mabe 4 books because of my studies at university. But during my school time - high school or Gymnasium in germany- I read so many books. I read during classes when the teacher sucked or I allready knew the stuff we had to study and so I read up to 80 books a year because I read so much during class.
I think the most books in a year where around 85 books, I never hit that number again the years after. I mean I set goals but in the end I am just happy if i managed to read anything.
So just wandering, what was your highest number and, was it a good or a bad reading year?

Hi everyone, a quick announcement about Seasonal + Special Event Readalongs:
For those of you that have been around since the summer, you may have participated in our first Special Event Readalong for Pride. This was a huge hit and fostered PB-wide discussion on queer characters and stories (and bonus: the badge was rad). To continue fostering discussions on more niche and diverse books & voices, we'll be hosting a Special Event readalong once a season.
Our second Special Event will run from October 15 - November 15 and will be (drumroll please...) Dia de los Muertos 2025! Head to the Discuss tab and click on the box above the feeds to check out the selections and see the new badge (and if you're new, click the purple info icon next to the Fall Readalong header on Discuss to learn more about readalongs on Pagebound).
Since we're committing to one Special Event a season, we don't want to overwhelm folks with too many Readalong books. While you only need to read 1 book in a Special Event to earn the badge (and there is no "completionist" sparkly badge), we will limit Special Event picks to 3 books. Starting with the Winter 2025 Readalong, Seasonal Readalongs will only include 4 books. This way, you still only have to read a max total of 5 books per season to earn all Readalong badges available.
As for product updates, looks like most of you have already noticed some of the bigger changes on the site but for those that missed it, the following has been updated over the past 2 weeks:
We're still beta testing the app but are on track for and end of month release!
Happy Reading, Jennifer & Lucy

I watched a reel recently where a few librarians were shown book covers with their titles & authors removed, and had to guess which books they were. It was a lot of fun! It also got me thinking about which book covers are iconic/recognizable just from the image alone... some that stood out to me are:
Classics (maybe more memorable since they've been around for so long): The Great Gatsby Catcher in the Rye The Handmaid's Tale
More modern books: Yellowface (for sure instantly recognizable) The Memory Police (maybe just iconic to me haha) The Goldfinch
Are there any covers you find iconic (either very recognizable in your opinion, or just iconic to you personally āØ)? I do recognize that this might differ by country!
Viictra finished reading and wrote a review...
This is one of the most particular books I have ever read. The premise of two alternative reading orders convinced me, as I had never read a book with that characteristic. It is really special, I was completely inmersed in the story and the "truth" behind the whole plot was really original and well delivered. I did a buddy read with a friend in the two different orders and, comparing, the best part is the difference in the reactions it pulled from us.

I finished the book in only two reading sessions, so what I am sure is that it really captivated me, but there is so much to think about here that I will wait a bit for the review. A special read, no doubt.

Well I guess you can't show me, but tell me about your most prized book/book series in your personal collection!
I'll go first! Mine is actually the full manga set of Hakyuu!! by Haruichi Furudate ā all 45 individual volumes. I started collecting it before I even started working full-time in 2016/2017, way before manga prices skyrocketed post-covid. I worked really hard to complete it over the years and it's my greatest treasure!
For a non-manga book, it'd be the full box set of the original covers of PJO that I came across by chance, but have always promised myself buying only those specific covers. Thrifted it for dirt cheap šāāļø

I want to make the most out it, have never been to one, and this seems like a community who may know a thing or two. I thought 'no harm in asking'
This is the first large-scale signing/ meet-and-greet event of its kind near me. I'm slightly nervous as I have no idea what to expect. There will be an evening cocktail party and then an all day book convention / signing event. I've seen there is a pre-order form for many Authors but that's about it. I will be able to take my car so plenty of space for books.
Are there any tips or tricks you think would make such an event easier / better? Any general book convention etiquette I should keep in mind?
