A brutal yet beautiful novel. How Gaunt and Ellwood changed throughout the story is haunting but realistic.

Babel took me quite a bit of time to read, but it was so worth it. Don’t be fooled by the 1800s setting and fantasy elements, Babel is in many ways not fictional at all and relevant to modern day society. I haven’t read a book so compelling, thought provoking, and emotional in such a long time (while learning so much!).
I won’t lie, Babel can be a tougher read because it’s packed with so much information, history, and etymology. It took a lot of brain power for me to sit down and read a good chunk of the book, especially after work 😅. However, this is NOT to say it’s a poorly written book, because that is definitely not the case. It’s clearly well researched, and the foundations of Babel make the story so much more compelling. It’s worth the wait and brain power, I promise.
R. F. Kuang, you are brilliant ⭐️.
