So, after two years of saying I will read this one (definetly not exactly from the day the Nolan movie was announced), the day has come, for tommorow I expect my voyage to the lands of IMAX and I really didn’t want to ruing this one. I also really want to see all the diffrences that Nolan made, already knowing there will be so many. I think the term Odyssey is not about the sea voyage but the emotional aspect of the story. How we can still mourn people even after twenty years of not seeing them. The language was hard in some parts, using some really weird words (that somehow were not in the dictionary in the back??? While there were words like thin or olives…) but in the end I really loved it, especially for its metaphorically structured parts. If this author comes out with a new book I am definitely buying :D

I have heard quite a lot about this book, so when I realized it had almost no reviews anywhere I was quite surprised. The story revolves around a character named Roman, which is already quite the name for the person he is. And I think it definitely changed my perspective on people with the name 😂 We get to see him as he mourns through the loss of some people he lost, and that carries most of the story for me. Even going as far as mourning over death itself, and it’s quite the thought to make a book on. I think the narrative was moving at just the right speed and it wasn’t dragging anywhere, although I think it’s written in the same way as most of czech fantastica and the world would just benefit from it being more of a short stories format. The characters, the parts of the story, the whole world is built to be used more and I would not even be surprised if it was originally the plan and it just turned out differently, but you can definitely feel it. Overall, a really nice light read, with some humor, mostly consisting of arguments with a Slovakian character :D

I have been waiting to read this book for quite some time after Project Hail Mary, and my expectations were pretty high. And it did not disappoint. I absolutely love Mark and his humor along with how easy he can make the math and physics and chemistry look. He is in the end same us any of us, apart from the fact he has the knowledge to actually survive. I feel like the flow of the story was really smooth and I could stop wherever and it would feel like there is something waiting for me. But I found the last like hundred pages a bit slower. Or rather it felt like nothing impactful could happen and the problems he’s facing are there just for us not to say - “okay, that’s so unrealistic for him to have a clean way”. That said I still enjoyed it, and rather much more then the movie which I saw the day after. I am happy Andy didn’t put the Iron Man thingy in the book :D
