Hello bibliophiles, I hope this post finds you well in the middle of a 5 star read! I have long spent searching the depths of Reddit, Pinterest and Goodreads, but wondered if I may have more luck if I post this into the pagebound universe! Brief potential message of spoilers ahead for Rebecca Ross’s novels as I describe what I loved in seeking recommendations!
One of my top favorite reads of all time includes the Divine Rivals duology and Wild Reverence, both by Rebecca Ross. This is where I dreamy sigh. I found Divine Rivals to be a true rare gem. It has fantasy, romance, a bit of mystery with the disappearance of a brother, and a loose touch of historical because theres an active war between the gods. It has a slow burn, rivals to lovers romance that actually builds and has yearning, love letters, and friendship-instead of just sexual tension and lust with the main characters purely ripping eachothers clothes off without actually falling for eachother (zero judgement here, just not my personal preference, as I feel the romantasy genre has been saturated by this lately).
I also found DR to have one of the most swoon worthy MMC who sacrificed everything for the FMC and literally followed her to the front lines of war. It had magical typewriters (!!!!) and the characters sent each-other letters back and forth, which added to the slow burn yearning. Overall, I found this duology to be enveloped in pure emotion, love, heartbreak and healing.
Wild Reverence ALSO snatched my breath and heart through the kindled romance from childhood through adulthood and beyond. I loved the scenes where the FMC swooped in and saved the MMC several times, proved her strength and resilience, and especially loved the almost reverse Rapunzelesque scaling of a tower and tumbling into his room.
If any of that speaks to you and sparks a scene from a book you love, please drop the title!! 🫶🏼💕✨
