Ninth House (Alex Stern, #1)

Ninth House (Alex Stern, #1)

Leigh Bardugo

Galaxy “Alex” Stern is the most unlikely member of Yale’s freshman class. Raised in the Los Angeles hinterlands by a hippie mom, Alex dropped out of school early and into a world of shady drug dealer boyfriends, dead-end jobs, and much, much worse. By age twenty, in fact, she is the sole survivor of a horrific, unsolved multiple homicide. Some might say she’s thrown her life away. But at her hospital bed, Alex is offered a second chance: to attend one of the world’s most elite universities on a full ride. What’s the catch, and why her? Still searching for answers to this herself, Alex arrives in New Haven tasked by her mysterious benefactors with monitoring the activities of Yale’s secret societies. These eight windowless “tombs” are well-known to be haunts of the future rich and powerful, from high-ranking politicos to Wall Street and Hollywood’s biggest players. But their occult activities are revealed to be more sinister and more extraordinary than any paranoid imagination might conceive.

    Cruel prince blab

Okok so is it just me or is the fandom exaggerating cardans cruelty Like he ripped off some girls wings, but outside the realm of messing with Jude I can’t remember anything else he’s done I don’t know, I just have a feeling that Jude is far crueler Cardan feels more of a stuck up rich kid than cruel. Not to say Cardan isn’t! Maybe it’s because he is bleak in comparison to Jude and her ruthless… For intstance I see posts that say, “we forget cardan is cruel” then the mention of the wing ripping ideal, but that’s about it? Like what else!!

I wish that side of him was expanded upon more, it would’ve been fun to explore… don’t get me wrong, I do love cardan! But I think we “forget” he is cruel because that wasn’t shown enough in the books to really account for much. It’s just fun when books show more than tell. Otherwise it feels more of an empty promise. Like what other horrid things did this tipsy, face of smudged coal eyeliner, prince do! Feed me holly black!
