    "Women and enbies" 10%

First thing I'll say is that so far I'm enjoying this story, so this is by no means a jab at this book in particular but rather more of a general discussion on the topic. It's the first time I try to put this into words, so please bear with me 😅

It's been rubbing me the wrong way for a while how women and non-binary people very often get lumped up together as if they were part of the same group in LGBT+ spaces. I get where the sentiment comes from (putting everyone who isn't a man in the same group), but it still feels wrong to me somehow, like non-binary identities are being disregarded or just framed as "not men" or a different way of being feminine rather as their own, unique group.

Again, I get where people are coming from when they do this, but as a non-binary person who has to deal with their identity being erased on the daily, it still gives me an icky, unpleasant feeling that is hard to describe. Here it feels like the author is trying to be inclusive by doing this, and I appreciate non-binary identities being mentioned, but it feels like this isn't the right way to do it versus e.g. having realistic non-binary representation in the story.
