What an amazing book! It took me a bit to get attached bc there’s a lot of characters in the beginning and the pov keeps switching, but after the first part wow i breezed through it, i couldnt stop thinking about the main characters and the story. I came here for the gore and i was certainly not disappointed, some descriptions were very graphic lol Game apart, the themes of fascism and the shit government described in the book are soooo relevant right now, it was such a good read. I wanted to include some quotes on this subject but i read it in french and the english translation is not as powerful imo 😶🌫️ 4.5 and not 5 because of some clichés (it’s from 1999) and SA just for shock value.

I finished this book back in August and I still cannot get it off my mind. How far out are you and still thinking about it?

Exactly as the title says. I love reading and have a lot of books I want to read that just came out, but I just can't get into the flow. It's taking me weeks to finish a book, and I have even been trying different genres to get me out, but I just can't.
What are some fast-paced, fun books with likable characters who are witty? I would prefer a romcom, but am up for anything. I do want there to be a happy-ish ending, basically a mood lifter.
I will literally try any book lol, but if you would like me to specify: I love Emily Henry, Lynn Painter, B.K. Borison, Ali Hazelwood. I tend to go for hockey romances, enemies-to-lovers, he falls first, 'who did this to you?' vibes (not necessarily all at once lmfao). Some of my favorite reads include The Crimson Moth duology, the GrishaVerse books (the Crows supremacy), Better Than the Movies, Long Live Evil, and The Return of Ellie Black.
Thank you for reading my solo yapp session and I would really appreciate the help!

As the title suggests, I’m keen to hear what are some of your favourite bookish podcasts.
I’ve been an avid listener of the What Should I Read Next podcast. I love hearing about the reading lives of other readers and always get such wonderful book recs to add to my tbr from it.
I’d love to discover other bookish podcasts out there. Do you have a favourite to recommend?

Does anyone else have a problem with not seeing the little asterisk? I’ll read right past where I should check the footnote until I get to the bottom of the page and have to scan back through like a where’s waldo which makes me feel like a detective 🕵️

a little torn on this book, there are a lot of similarities between the protagonist’s struggles and my life at the moment so i really appreciated her journey, but at the same time it was way too long and way too repetitive. The author was already able to convey the loneliness and simplicity and repetitiveness of her situation in the first 1/4, so i feel like the rest of the book was redundant.

carino dai, mi è piaciuta l’alternanza dei pov e il tipo di comicità/sarcasmo dell’autore, molto scorrevole

If you saw my previous review when I was at 32%, you probably giggled at me lightly complaining about the translation. Lo and behold, the chapter which I had stopped at turned out to be a chapter focusing exclusively on grammar, syntax, and translation 😭 i spoke too soon lmao!! while I do still stand by my statement that I think the colloquial phrasing is very directly Korean, I do find that chapter specifically very interesting. What does a "good sentence" look like? What does a bad one look like? It was super fun reading what the characters (and in extension, the author) thought about editing, particularly in relation to translations.
If I wasn't hooked before, this definitely hooked me even more!
