This was a reread for me but my first time reading as an adult. Suzanne Collins in a master of story telling and it's honestly frightening how so much of the things that happen in this novel can be applied to our real lives. I've been put through the emotional washing machine and I can't wait to read the prequels for the first time.

Knocking it out of the park with the first book of 2026. What a beautiful and haunting exploration of grief. I am a little upset that we didn't get to see any closure with the kids at school that he interacted with. But that did not take away from my enjoyment of the book. I loved it so much!!
