"I acquiesce, but I say nothing as we both look over the forms and then sign them." My friends we are off to a rocky start.

I have famously never read a Colleen Hoover book but know she's a controversial writer in the online book world. I've recently found myself in a reading slump and one of my tricks is to read a hotly debated book so that even if I'm not interested I still have a reason to read it. For the first 23 pages I can't say I loved the writing style but it's a voice I can respect and recognize as necessary in book world (I refuse to hate the player for playing the game✌️😗). I hit page 24 and could not get over this line. Why would you use a word like acquiesce just to use it wrong? It would have taken a 2-second google search to use it properly! I fear mistakes like this are what rallied the haters.

While I keep reading I'm going to try to focus on the content more than the writing because writing alone doesn't make or break a story for me. The good news? I'm reading again!

Plot was great but the spicy scene descriptions were a tad lacking in my personal opinion. I did enjoy the romance and especially love little Sophia. I'll definitely be reading book 2.

Thank you to the author for giving me the opportunity to read and review!

Listened via ALC from Netgalley. Thoughts and opinions are my own.

I wanted to seriously enjoy this more than what I did considering I love Amish stories and what I mostly read for most of my early and late teens.

I had trouble keeping up with the various events of what was happening between the characters so much that I wasn't sure what was happening and where I was at within the story. Maybe if I had an ebook or physical copy instead I could have kept up but who knows.

I did like the narrator and part of how they tried to be accurate mental health wise. There were parts that grabbed me and other parts where I kind of zoned out because I was a bit lost. The characters I was able to keep up with most was Ivy and Emily.

Not a terrible story overall. Hopefully someone else will be able to enjoy it more than I did.
