Tayari Jones delivers a deeply felt story about family, loss, and the invisible threads that hold people together. At its heart are two girls who both lose their mothers, one through absence, one through circumstance, and the novel tenderly explores how those losses shape who they become. Their lives diverge, taking them down very different roads, yet Jones never lets us forget the bond that connects them. The writing is haunting and intimate, laced with moments that are truly gut-wrenching. Jones captures the ache of grief and the quiet strength of found family with incredible nuance. Kin is about tragedy, resilience, and the winding, painful, beautiful journey of finding your way back to those you love.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the earc in exchange for my honest review.
