We all have a weird habit when it comes to reading, I know we do! For example, my sister will read the last page/chapter first to see if she's interested enough to know how they ended up there before spending days reading a book she doesn't like. (DIABOLICAL IF YOU ASK ME!)
Me? Well, I'm a strictly kindle girly (unless I go to the library) and I ABUSE the search function. A name I don't remember? Searching it. A place? Searching it. Random object that might have been mentioned in chapter 2? Searching it!! Quotes that are repeated? Searching them to see what context it was said in the last 2 times. I've accidentally spoiled things for myself so many times. But as an ADHD girly with the smallest little pea brain, I cannot stop using the search button š
Tell me your weird bookish habits or things other people would find diabolical š

I have never read a feminist gothic body horror. But now that I have? Iām so glad I read A. Rushbyās.
Lush, layered, morally gray, complicated, intense, beautiful, sharp, cunning, heart wrenching, raw and many many more adjectives that will most likely fall short of truly being the descriptor of this book are the words that come to mind when I try to sum up this work.
I heard of the anatomical venuses while watching an episode of Law and Order, but didnāt look into them further. When I began reading this book, I realized how many layers (no pun intended) there truly are to these models, these women and their place in society. Putting a modern lens on the telling of their story, reminding readers that truly, we have not advanced so far in society to be beyond the circumstances that created those models in the first placeāit truly is a horror novel when you think of how everything and nothing has changed when it comes to how the world views women, their bodies, and their value.
I read this slowly, over about a month or so, and I found myself wanting to ration the story out for as long as I could and then suddenly being unable to put it down, even though I knew the faster I read the quicker it would be over!
Highly recommend. A mug of hot tea, a willingness to explore uncomfortable truths, and a desire to get lost in this story, and hopefully you too will love it.

So how do most people decide what number to set as their yearly challenge goal?
For example, I only read 12 books last year, so I thought Iād go for something attainable and only put my goal at five books. Now that Iām using Pagebound, Iāve already read 10 š«£ so maybe I should have set it higher? Iām curious about how other people determine their yearly challenge goal.
(As a side note, this is my first time posting an original post in the Pagebound Club, so let me know if I overlooked a similar post or if this post should go elsewhere!)
