An sich ein spannender Krimi, wobei ich sagen muss, dass viele Details, die für die den Spannungsbogen toll gewesen wären, erst ganz nüchtern am Ende, nach der Auflösung, aufgezählt wurden. Außerdem waren die Ermittlungen irgendwie sehr wirr und lückenhaft. Ich hatte das Gefühl, manche Entscheidungen waren an den Haaren herbeigezogen, begründet mit einer „Eingebung“, die dann zuuufällig dazu führt, dass endlich was weitergeht. Ich kanns ganz schwer beschreiben, aber so richtig ausgeklügelt hat die gesamte Geschichte nicht gewirkt, ich denke da wurde zu viel gewollt, aber nicht ordentlich ausgearbeitet.

I‘m a bit conflicted about this book. I was intrigued by the element of the magic apartment, started out great, the lovestory had sweet moments and I loved the characters of Clementine‘s aunt. But overall, I can‘t say that I‘ve enjoyed it. First: The story was absolutely unbelievable – and I don‘t mean the magical parts. The only major plot points are so unbelievably obvious, yet the main character seems oblivious to them. I feel like she‘s been made "dumb" for the sake of the story. Then, the premise was interesting but poorly executed. There was no challenge, no thrill and frankly many questions left unanswered regarding the magical apartment.
In addition to that, the repetitive writing annoyed me :( I understood that the guy had a crooked smile the first of the about 40 times was mentioned!!! (Altough I don‘t understand how that‘s supposed to be hot … It crept me out to think of a man with a crooked smile standing in my apartment - no spoiler there, it‘s mentioned in the book‘s description. Isn‘t there a horror movie where smth like that happens haha) The writing started out beautiful but apart from repeating certain details constantly, the dialogues often felt flat, sometimes even cringe. As mentioned, there were some sweet and romantic parts, but the lovestory overall progressed WAY to fast. The whole book felt a bit shallow. I can‘t really explain but the way the main character talked about her feelings reminded me of my "quotes about life" pinterest board when I was 14. Phrases you would read somewhere that sounded good, but that were a bit too over the top to be authentic. The parts with here aunt are an exception to that, at least sometimes. I wanted to like this so bad, but especially the magic element disappointed me. This could have been a hallmark movie honestly.
