Alright so this is Februarys “Anti Book Clurb” book of the month…and…i can already tell it’s gonna be a rough one…
So this is the bachelorette meets like hunger games/maze runner esque tournament? I mean I guess I could see the allure…but after 100 pages…i’m beginning to see why this was not fleshed out in a way that people found enjoyable.
It’s still too early to call…so we will see where this takes us.
Also…if i didn’t know for a fact that this was written by a woman…some of the passages would scream written by a man (derogatory)

Upon completion of this novel I have to say…I was not expecting it to be so depressing. From multiple perspectives. 4.25/5
For the creature: Obviously his journey of abandonment from his creator is inherently sad. But the way he narrates his life apart from Victor is far worse. Unbeknownst to the family, he learned the ways of human behavior and became conscious of his own existence and how abhorrent it was to others. Still he hoped for compassion and companionship. Just to be denied by those he cared for from afar. Then to have to essentially beg and plead for Victor to grant him the only thing that would make him happy…just for him to be denied. I feel like there are parallels within the main crux of the story of the creature. Not just about how we treat others but also how those in power treat those less fortunate.
Victor: I hate him. Hard stop. But I also pity him. To be haunted by the very thing you created is one thing. To allow hatred to lead you to chase after the very thing you could have easily rectified all because of fear. Again the parallels within the text are pretty palpable for the things we see in our society today.
I would be interested to see if there are any film adaptations that fully capture the real intention of this story. Because i think if done right, it could be far more compelling than what we have been led to believe about it.

So I have never read the story of Frankenstein…nor have i really watched anything film wise about it…but am i the only one going through a bit of a shock about what this story is actually about and not the Halloween propaganda that we are shown in media…
I’ll explain…so i thought (based on nothing but some loose information via Halloween advertising) that frankenstein was about a mad scientist that created a monster… like hard stop…
which i guess is partially true…and maybe that’s just what fits the Halloween aesthetic…because this story is NOT that at all…
It might just be me…🤣🤣🤣
