I’m not a huge fan of the back and forth between her university days and the 1800’s farm every two chapters. It breaks the flow of the story imo, every time I’m starting to immerse myself it force me to change timeline.

Hello everyone, especially those who have already read this book, and even more to any Francophone readers. This book has been on my tbr for some time, but I still can’t decide if I want to read it in French or English. French is my second language, I’ve been learning it for almost a decade and I would consider myself bilingual but not completely fluent, if that makes sense. Most of my French literature exposure has been in the classics, true classics from Marie de France to Beaumarchais. The most contemporary novel I’ve read is Une Si Longue Lettre. So let me know your thoughts! Should I try to read this in French or is it likely that I’ll miss out some on the complexity that makes this story so compelling?

Idk how to feel about this book but I did enjoy it. Yeong-hye and In-hye are both quiet intriguing characters. I like how the different themes were explored.
