Hi everyone! We have some product updates to share: 1. We're launching the first Special Event readalong on June 1st with a Pride Month Readalong! You'll get a special Pride 2025 badge for reading 1 of the 5 books in the readalong and posting or commenting in the forum. There's a link to the selections on the Discuss page; all selected books were written by LGBTQ+ authors. We're excited to celebrate Pride and the community with this special event :) 2. You can now search in the forums! Shoutout to Devin for this feature. We recommend sticking to keywords rather than full sentences for search 3. You will now see a warning message when posting about a book you're currently reading without entering the progress % or page #. This info is required for forum sorting by progress; we allow and encourage title editing (ie adding a chapter or quip to the title) 😊 + various bug fixes Happy reading, Jennifer + Lucy 💜💙

I wasn’t expecting much when I first picked up this book for several reasons. For starters, it was a blind book and all the info I had was that it was YA, murder mystery, and 3.73 stars on GoodReads, and when I unwrapped it and saw the cover,,, let’s just say that I did judge the book by its cover. The MCs were also high schoolers and I’m pretty far removed from high school so I was apprehensive if I would be able to relate. But I was pleasantly surprised by the time I finished it. The story didn’t actually center around them being high schoolers all that much and I found the MCs were pleasantly relatable and I was able to empathize with them easily. The murder mystery plot itself wasn’t the craziest thing out there like in the movie “Knives Out” but I still found it pretty interesting and was still surprised by the reveal. I think the relationship between the 3 MCs fell flat at sometimes, especially between Cal and Mateo, but it wasn’t a huge thing. So all in all I liked it and makes me wanna read more murder mystery.

I’ve already read majority of these books ages ago but it’s been a while since I’ve reread them. I haven’t read the Magnus Chase series or the Trials of Apollo so I’m excited to read those!

Just started Royal Assassin and I don’t know how old Fitz ends up being by the end of the book but I think it’s so funny that he’s at least supposed to be 15 and on the cover is a full grown man.
