the only scientifically incorrect part of this book is that the government believes and trusts scientists lol

r.f. kaung is the QUEEN of moral ambiguity. all of the characters are flawed, but it makes them feel so real. she makes you question your own morals and wonder how you would have reacted in the situations the characters find themselves in. rin is not the stereotypical heroine—she is not even “likable”—but she is so incredibly complex, realistic, and interesting, and that makes me love her.
however, i do truly hate reading about war, so it was not a perfect 5 stars. battle strategies bore me, and intense mass genocide disconcerts and saddens me.
