I really enjoyed this as an audio book. I think I am the odd duck out, but I liked it a lot better than The English Patient. Very relevant to our current moment with the genocide in Gaza and long historical conflicts between factions playing out throughout generations. On a more individual level, I also appreciated the reflections on how people change and how you can’t fully know another person.

I just didn't see the point of this book.
I recognize that the author is a good writer, but he doesn't write about anything I want to read about. It was mildly interesting.

It’s interesting to reflect on the complicated fallout of war and covert operations. The ramifications are so far reaching through space and time.
