It’s interesting having seen the first season of the show to then read the book and learn about the differences that they made when adapting it.

Like why have Alina sneak and burn a map to get onto the skiff when in the book she was already meant to be on it. Not that it’s bad but it’s an interesting choice to make.

I was first introduced to this story by Hulu’s show adaptation. The show was too dystopian and stressful for me to watch but I’ve always been intrigued. I’ve had the book on my shelf for years and am finally getting to it. Hoping that reading the story instead of watching will be more tolerable and digestible. I’m reading the 2017 edition with a new introduction by the author and I’m already gutted knowing what I know now in 2026. Chilling to think of the similarities between our world now and Gilead.
