to be fair i was solely hyped because of the show, all the edits and the actors whom i love but without all of that it would have been another mid hockey romance im sorryy

while i enjoyed some part of it and i still think it was a fun read, the mystery and the plot was lacking on so many levels. the magic system sounded really interesting but it was underdeveloped, also the religious aspect of this book?? the author should have gone deeper, it would have been really interesting to delve into that. don’t get me started on the mystery, it was so badly written i’m sorry. while it was very obvious, the villains were not even great and well layered. every aspect of it was so basic and frustrating. i liked the romance while not groundbreaking, there was some tension and it was kind of a slow burn so love that. we have the typical shadow daddy (not saying that i don’t eat it up every single time tho 👅) buut i enjoyed their dynamic. this book had soo much potential i really enjoyed the first half but then it just got worse and worse
