Guys I’ve been on a social media ban for exactly one week and tbh…they’re right. I have so much more time to read and I’m way less anxious 😬
I won’t lie; I was on a work trip for most of this week so I wasn’t completely distraction free. I’m going to try to go another week to see how I actually do without doom scrolling but I also don’t miss it as much as I thought i would?
Has anyone else reduced or eliminated their social media use and felt like Pagebound scratches that itch without the horrible never ending feed of algorithm led posts?

If you consume literature across different mediums, what would you estimate your balance is? Obviously it can fluctuate, but I’m curious to see the community’s preferred consumption method.
Mine is roughly as follows:
Paper books: 60% eBooks: 30% Audiobooks: 10%

Kinda getting bored with this book.... listening to the audiobook isnt really helping yet, but hopefully it picks up soon.

I was wondering what you feel about fanfics that end up being traditionally published and/or turned into movies? There's been a lot of those recently, and I feel more so in the past 10 years.
I myself wrote a lot of fanfiction back in the day, and I read some very good ones, too. However, I haven't enjoyed the fanfics that have been traditionally published and/or turned into movies. Granted, I only know of 50 Shades, the After series, and I think The Mortal Instruments was a Ron/Ginny fanfic?? lol. I recently saw there will be a movie of a Dramione fanfic, there's of course The Love Hypothesis film on the works, and I that Anne Hathaway romcom that was a Harry Styles fanfic (one of many that became mainstream lol).
What are your thoughts? Do you have recommendations of good books/movies based on fanfics? Or should fanfics just remain in fanfic spaces? Have you thought of publishing your own fanfics as original stories?

wouldn't say i'm hooked but i'm liking this so far! it's been interesting to learn about the Scholomance and the way magic works in this world. i also don't mind El's character or snappy tone, which is good because this would be a very painful read otherwise lol

I’m sure we could all name a huge list of books that haven’t been done justice by their movie or tv show adaptations, but what about books where the adaptation is actually better than the source material?
This might be a controversial opinion, but for me this is the case for the Silo tv show, based on the Wool series by Hugh Howey. The books are some of my absolute favorites, but the show makes some really great changes to the plot and characters that makes for an even more suspenseful and interesting story, especially in the first season.
What do you guys think? Any other examples of this in your eyes?
