I was just going through Pinterest and saving one MILLION billion pins that were y2k childhood toys/shows/games. It made me think about all the books I used to love when I was little! Do you remember the first book you ever read by yourself? What were your favorite books as a little kid?
The first book I remember reading by myself was Old Hat New Hat! A Berenstain Bear book! I also really loved Junie B. Jones, A to Z Mysteries, and ANY nonfiction science picture book. (Bonus points if it was about ghosts/haunted buildings.) EDIT: I HAVE TO ADD THE KISSING HAND AND THE COBBLESTREET COUSINS đ«¶âš

Yes please! This book delivers exactly what it promises: a sweeping romantic fantasy adventure with all the tropes you've come to love. I'm about 40 sessions into The Mighty Nein and this also gives some great insight into the romantic ideals Jester is harboring while she figures out her feelings.

I just wanted to comment on how it feels to read a fantasy or sci-fi story immediately after finishing a technical (in this case an architectural narrative, Strange Houses, logic-focused) book. It feels like going up in a hot air balloon alone, leaving the ground behind with butterflies in my chest! Good butterflies. Maybe thatâs part of why I alternate genres so frequently.

A solid collection of fairy tale retellings. Some hit harder than others and, at times, the darkness felt heavy-handed, but that's what the author was going for and the order of the stories was so well chosen, I almost forgot that I didn't enjoy a few in the first half. The illustrations are gorgeous and if I had a kid who was interested in twisted fairy tales, I would definitely be bestowing this book upon them.
