i feel very maternal towards the og gingerbread man, and him still acting like a soldier is so funny to me
he also srsly needs his own name

All these new badges are very distracting - I've discovered a million more side quests I need to join, loads more badges I need, and feel really jealous of everyone's emeralds and rubies! I feel like Gollum is currently my spirit animal

are you a cat person, or a dog person?
quite a random question, but i'm curious, and i'm wondering if it impacts your book taste?
people like to say dog people are outgoing, extroverted, go getters— and cat people? more reserved, maybe witchy, more slow paced.
i'm both! i've grown up with cats, dogs, ferrets and many other small pets, but i'm still pretty introverted and keep a small circle. i like to go out sometimes, but i'm pretty laid back to be honest. i like creepier, weirder books, preferably fast paced though!
what about you guys? do you think it says anything about your personality?

you know those occasional cravings you may be plagued by? a juicy burger? peanut butter pickle sandwich? raw carrots? dirt?
well, i do fear that i get even STRONGER cravings for a good book. i think it's just part of being a mood reader but i find myself often thinking, 'how i do want a deliciously ridiculous [] right now'
so.. to all my mood readers/cravers, what type of book are you craving right now? or what was the last craving?
i personally want a regency romance but a really silly one. i think im seeking some mayhem since my last few books have been classics.
ooh also do you find yourself fulfilling these cravings? i try to find a good read to fulfill them and i think it takes so long to browse that it just.. goes. ah, the struggles 😔.
anyways, id love to hear yalls thoughts!

'It is hard to tell a love story and also the story of a people being torn apart.'
3.75 ⭐.
Whilst certainly needing more at times, this tale that Crossan crafts is, altogether, well constructed and tragic in nature. It hits you with force, you see the characters with pity and hope, you hope so, so desperately for them. And yet, as it so often is, their lives do not simply become carefree or joyful in the blink of an eye.
We focus on the famine of Ireland, a part of history I feel that needs to be discussed ever so much more. The extent of the situation, the suffering and pain, is depicted in quite a harrowing manner. The horror that you feel at the acts of others, the English who showed complete indifference, is undoubtable. In general, the emotions evoked are felt strongly and deeply, whether they be anger or grief.
All in all, with a beautifully simple free verse, Crossan truly does craft a heartfelt tale of love and suffering, showcasing how life, ever so cruelly, can intertwine both..
