Iâve been thinking a lot about the overlap between people who devour books and people who sink hours into video games.
If youâre a reader and a gamer, Iâm curious: ⢠What are you playing right now? ⢠Do you gravitate toward story-heavy games, cozy games, chaotic multiplayer, RPGs? ⢠Do you feel like gaming scratches the same itch as reading - or a totally different one?
And if you donât game, Iâd love to know why. No judgment - just genuinely interested in how these hobbies intersect (or donât).
Iâm fascinated by the reader/gamer venn diagram. Where do you land?

A fun and easy read if you turn off your critical mind and just enjoy the witty banter. Like, could most of the conflict in the book be solved by 5 minutes of self-reflection and a couple of earnest conversations? Is the supposed âice queenâ mc actually nothing of the sort when you really think about it? Idk I was too busy enjoying the witty banter!

This is such a specific nitpick but the musical notation on the cover is all donked up đ Like why does the staff only have 4 lines? Why are the stems⌠like that? Is this how nurses feel when they read a bunch of inaccurate medical stuff in a book?!

Haunting and completely singular. A disturbing look at how patriarchal systems seek to violently control and diminish women until they literally disappear.

This story starts off strong, suffused with heady atmosphere and dotted with some truly gorgeous lines, deftly blending elements of historical fiction, family drama, horror, and romance. As it progresses though, the more intriguing aspects (ie. vampires both real and metaphorical) are back-burnered in favour of the romance, whose central conflict largely centres around miscommunication and I ultimately found pretty juvenile. CaĂąasâ metaphors also have gradually less impact as they begin to be repeated throughout the book, a choice I found truly baffling.
