  • Privacy settings/ removing clutter

Heya, a friend of mine just switched over from goodreads but is rather overwhelmed and also somewhat uninterested in the updates from strangers that pop up on the main page.

So my question. Is there any way to remove that and make this whole thing a little more private. Like only seeing updates of the people you follow as an example?

I myself struggle with that and get easily overwhelmed with too much info, so its also something I asked myself but I haven’t found any relating settings so far.

  • Comfort books

I'm feeling a bit under the weather so i just started reading and I've got a question for all of you. What is everyone's comfort book?? Like the book that you can reread an uncountable amount of times and still love it with your whole heart? The one where you know the whole plot but just find comfort with the characters and the world? Or maybe you don't reread this book but think about when you're sad? Or you don't have a book like this? If so, why?

    Thoughts from 26% (page 78)

Gigi and Beppo have me bawling already. Time and Fairytales rlly are my favourite things in the world.

It’s so insane, how i am 26 percent in and had to mark nearly every single page. The patriarchy and capitalism are really showing and looking at the current state of our world, this book is still so relevant. My heart aches, every time my brain goes ‘yeah, sounds like my life currently’ or ‘wow, what a time to be alive’

On that note, please waste time, as much as u can bcuz time might be a finite resource, but love, fun and companionship aren’t.

    Ouch

I had never seen the movie before reading, but knew the gist. I figured it'd hit me hard as someone who became disabled 2 years ago, not cancer though, and boy did it. It was quite cathartic for me.

    Beppo, the man you are.

This book rlly reminds me, why I turned out the way I did. It is still baffling to me, how the discussed topics are still so relevant. I read this book the first time, when I was about 11 years old and it rlly shows. These pages shaped me, like no other book I read in my entire life and I wouldn’t want it any other way. So if u can spare the time/ want something that gets u thinking and questioning our view of the world and time and also friendships, I can recommend this book wholeheartedly.

Also, Beppo rlly won in life and we should all be a little more like him.

» You see, Momo,' he [Beppo Roadsweeper] told her one day, 'it's like this. Sometimes, when you've a very long street ahead of you, you think how terribly long it is and feel sure you'll never get it swept.' He gazed silently into space before continuing. 'And then you start to hurry,' he went on. 'You work faster and faster, and every time you look up there seems to be just as much left to sweep as before, and you try even harder, and you panic, and in the end you're out of breath and have to stop - and still the street stretches away in front of you. That's not the way to do it.' He pondered a while. Then he said, 'You must never think of the whole street at once, understand? You must only concentrate on the next step, the next breath, the next stroke of the broom, and the next, and the next. Nothing else.' Again he paused for thought before adding, 'That way you enjoy your work, which is important, because then you make a good job of it. And that's how it ought to be.' There was another long silence. At last he went on, 'And all at once, before you know it, you find you've swept the whole street clean, bit by bit. What's more, you aren't out of breath.' He nodded to himself. 'That's important, too,' he concluded. «

  • Asking for Recommendations (?)

Is this the right place to do so, or have I missed a designated space for book recs?

I am specifically searching for sapphic fantasy, doesn’t need to be romance focused but I do enjoy some good slow burn.
