I need someone who's read this already to tell me if it is worth continuing reading cause I'm so bored. We are told the back story of every character and there is so much world building but without an immediate purpose. I don't think I enjoy this style of writing.

This was one of my most anticipated reads of this year and it's a DNF. Very sad times indeed. I loved the concept and magic system, but I just couldn't handle the FMC, Riven. She was so infuriating and one-note.

i CAN'T stand the riven. she keeps making stupid decisions after stupid decisions. she was so unlikeable and it was hard for me to wait for her to get /better/. i don't mind a stubborn fmc but riven was too impulsive and idiotic and it drove me nuts.
anyway on to the next book before this puts me into a slump 👋🏻

i didn't care about the romance or the love triangle or whatever that was. but i still enjoyed this one!! it definitely wasn't life changing or anything but it was a fun read.
i still can't believe it's YA because some of the themes are so dark. but the "romance" was really giving YA looool. the "love triangle" wasn't fleshed out that much either + the romance between the mcs felt so insta lovey (which i hate). i just pretended that the romance didn't exist and continued reading 😂
the writing was engaging and easy to follow. although i think there wasn't much world building so i had a few questions. and sure there were plot holes and it was predictable but i wasn't disappointed. i inhaled this pretty quickly too so im excited to see what will happen in the next book!
