i really like how max and tisanaah's relationship is progressing. especially because they weren't instantly attracted to one another. like they formed a bond first before we even get there and it feels so refreshing to see in a romantasy (bec i haven't been reading good ones lol)

so i went in blind when i read this book. i only knew bits and pieces. i had expected to like it a lot but it was alright. one moment i feel like the story is gripping me, and the next i'm not engaged.
i really wanted to love it but it felt underwhelming and lacking. i think the world building was amazing but there were too many info dumps from the beginning until the end of the book. and honestly i ended up getting confused with some of the characters because there were too many names + some of them sounded too similar (and I'm an epic fantasy lover so that means something 😭)
i do still have a lot of unanswered questions. despite all the info dumps im still wondering about a lot of things. like maybe all the information just hurt my brain and maybe i just didn't understand the book properly. i even wanted to dnf at one point but i pushed through because i had needed answers to my questions.
but im giving it a 3 ⭐ because i really liked maggie. she's strong and resilient + her thoughts were really funny to read.

honestly i struggled at the beginning of the book. i felt that it was slow and i couldn't understand a thing. i had to get to page 100 to fully connect with the story and wow it was worth it!!! 🤩
i do feel the plot can get slow at times and can get pretty boring so i think this book may not be for everyone. but the world building is amazing!! you can really picture yourself being in tide child with the crew. anyway i really enjoyed this one and can't wait to see where the next book takes us 🏴☠️
