Excited to read something a little outside of my usual taste! Really loving the audiobook so far, always nice when an author narrates their own books:)

This book is so hopeless and both of the worlds are so awful to live in that it’s actually making me lose a little bit of interest at this point. I don’t know what to root for at all and I really do think I like a dark story but I think I need at least something small to hope for or at least one character that has a little bit of hope for the future or something. I just need a tiiiny bit of levity and I’ll be set because I like the characters and the settings and magic systems are really cool it’s just so demoralising to read at times.

I actually really like that the format makes me read the same poem twice, and in two very different ways. Often I find myself not reflecting on poems long enough and end up feeling like I forgot everything but this is making me think more about what’s being said

I don’t usually vibe when a couple gets together very quickly in romance and it did take me a little longer to finish because of that but I still liked it. Also could not physically imagine anyone other than François Arnaud as Scott so the whole blond and blue-eyed thing really pulled me out of the story sometimes lmao, he did such a good job in the show though so I could not mind less that they went in another direction with the character
