Surprised by the different pacing of the second Eva Evergreen — less gentle, and more action and scary themes in this one.

I 1000% want to sucker punch this kid and make him understand how much of a hypocritical self-righteous ass he is. I see a LOT of my 16 year old self in the way he looks at the world, though, so I suppose I need to give him some grace.

A great middle grade read with big studio ghibli vibes — read if you love Kiki’s delivery service! I liked the gentle pacing, didn’t love the overall representation of adults in this book. I read this with my 9 year old and there were a few spots where we were both a bit confused about certain plot points/wording and had to reread, but overall, a very enjoyable book to read out loud ❤️
