That ending? My god. It really leaves you wondering what happened and where did Lila go, but isn’t that the purpose? Our suppositions become the tools with which Lila stops dematerialising and we try to put some order to her and her fate. Also, the title of this book is really on point, I love it.

I’m going on a fantasy break before starting the TOG series. I know there’s a lot of discord about which book to start first. The box set I got does start with AB first then TOG but I want everyone who have read the series tell me which they think will give the best reading experience. Thanks!

Thank you so much to NetGalley and Grove Atlantic for sending me this ARC!
If you had your time again? – I think I would have been gentler with you.
It took me a while to finish this book because I found the beginning very slow. I picked it up again a few days ago. It's a story told in just a few pages, but it leaves a lasting impression. A love story between a priest and a teacher that challenges the rules. I found the writing essential yet impactful, and the story very intriguing. However, I had some difficulty with the leaps between years; it's not a stylistic choice I'm personally fond of. I enjoyed the parts of the story set in Italy. It's a story that explores faith, sexuality, and love very well.

This was really really good! Not as good as the first one tho. I still love the characters and their depth, the story is intriguing and I couldn’t get enough. However the first half wasn’t as strong as the second one. It became at some point really repetitive and I disliked both Lila and Elena for their choices and their behaviour. But they redeemed themselves in the second half. I felt like Elena was really really pathetic, especially how she treated the Nino-Lila situation and her thought process was really unnerving. But I liked how in the second half she started to prioritise herself and her studies. Nevertheless, can’t wait to read more!
