  • New to poetry

As part of broadening my literary palette this year, I want to start reading some poetry. The problem is, I have had little/no exposure to poetry in academia and I don't know where to start. I read almost every genre and would love some recommendations on classic and contemporary poetry that are "must reads" in your opinions!

  • Spanish Books ??

Hey y’all!! Does anyone have any ideas for books in Spanish for someone who hasn’t practiced in a couple years??

I don’t want to use Duolingo (booooo AI) and I don’t want to pay for a language app that I’ll probably never use, I’d rather check out books from the library and try to learn that way.

For reference, the highest level Spanish I was at was learning future tense and (poorly attempting) a readalong of Don Quixote (it was for a class, we didn’t get very far lol)

  • Looking for people to follow 🩷

I'd love to follow more people here and am looking for others who have similar tastes to me! I mostly read classics and nonfiction, but I do enjoy contemporary fantasy as well. I speak French and Spanish and I'm learning German, and one of my goals for this year is to read more non-English literature!

  • Intro Fantasy Recs?

One of my goals this year is to read a bit of fantasy. What would you recommend as a beginner read for this genre? I'm typically a romance and thriller person, but looking to expand!

  • Evil 👿

I find the concept of evil fascinating. I love evil characters. One thing I’ve noticed about literature, specifically western literature (because I don’t want to speak on literature I’m unfamiliar with) is that evil-ness is often associated with Satan or The Devil. And I think many of these villainous characters embody who Satan is supposed to be. And it doesn’t have to surround Christianity, either. Many religions and belief systems have an evil entity that is opposed to the “almighty God.” I’m speaking to monotheism in particular here.

All this to ask: which books do you enjoy that identifies evil as one of its themes?

    Audiobooks

Hey hey, so i love tandom reading a physical book and listening to the audiobook, it helps me stay engage ( adhd and dyslexia can make that difficult at times) but im stugling to find a platform to listen to audiobooks, spotify has a short 15h limit and is morrally awful, audible is over priced and possibly worse from an ethics point of view. So that leads me to my question.

What do yall listen to audiobooks on ? *i live in Australia WA to be more specific

This is not the place for a anyone who dosnt think audiobooks count 💚

  • Fun french book recs?

I’ve gotten into reading in French because of my uni classes and I would looove to read something fun and more easy going (think romance, fantasy, sci fi), but I don’t know if I would need to know more colloquial French?? idk, what are your recs for getting into contemporary popular French literature?
