Do you rate a DNF book as 1 star 🌟 or no star? When do you DNF the book?
i usually rate them as 1 star book where i dnf the book between 30-40%! just didn’t get the vibe of the book or found something cringe or not handle any other action from the mc of the book 💀 BUT sometimes i have this little hope of the book to be good 🥹 where i should listen to my gut that i should have dnf the book instead of wasting my time to finish it and got disappointed 😔

I figured out last year the secret to reading more for me personally is to start as many books as I want and to not force myself to read anything if I'm not feeling it that day. That means I usually have 5-10 books going at any given time.
Eventually I circle back to finish them off. But with the annual reading challenges I'm always extra motivated to go back and finish anything I've started before the end of the year and it's a fun little boost to my numbers.

People who read dark romance: what draws you to the genre? Do you have any tropes you won't read, even in a dark romance? What makes a dark romance good, in your opinion?
This is coming from someone who has never read a dark romance in their life, I'm intrigued b/c they seem to be everywhere nowadays lol

Before I started reading this i saw a few threads of people saying the jokes/some of the interactions between characters read very YA. Now I've read those parts I raise you - the characters are in their 30s, the author is in her 50s. Have we considered she is simply writing characters with what she percieves as Millenial energy... because some of the banter comes across very Buzzfeed, tumblr, "lol so random" energy, which whilst cringe honestly made me believe these characters are in their 30s more lol. Anyways I'm enjoying myself heaps, I was worried this would be like The Will of the Many all over again but I really enjoy being in Neema's head as she is so neurodivergent coded lol, like yes sweetie being right is so much FUN

i was warned but still, i flew anyways!!!!!
i placed lots of holds on lots of books, because there were always 1-3 people before me, or even 4-5 people before me on the list. this was a grave error
yesterday/today i got a series of texts letting me know the great news! 5 of my 8 books are ready for pickup! so i just went & grabbed them all:)
i am trying to decide between reading them in the order they’re due or reading them in the order of my current interest level. especially because the book i want to read the most is due the latest 😭
i would love to know either what yall do or what you’d recommend or even what order you’d pick. TIA 🤎🕯️📚

I'm talking about that one book (or multiple!) that will never leave you no matter what. Whether it be because of the story, the descriptions/word choice, or just the vibe. I wanna know what book you will carry with you until the day you die.
For me, in terms of plot and meaning etc. etc., The Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. I am obsessed with anything greek mythology as of lately (check out the EPIC musical, i'll love you forever) and this book just struck a chord with me. Heartbreaking story but I feel like Miller did a really good job with their relationship and by the end I was almost sobbing. A kind of weird one that will also stick with me is The Ministry of Time by Kaliane Bradley. I read it at a weird time and went into it with a different idea of what the plot would be compared to what it ACTUALLY was BUT... the way Bradley describes the MMC physically/his aura.. I die. I love his description and have such a vivid picture of him and I want to emulate that in every piece of writing I create for the rest of time. Dramatic? Yes. But seriously, I don't even know why, but I am obsessed with the way he is described.
Anyways, that's mine. What are your books that you will carry with you forever and ever?

Once upon a time, there was a woman who mostly read poetry. Now, she feels like a kid in a candy store because there are soooo many things to read. And she just wants to read them all! What's a girl to do? And could there possibly be enough time to try all the yummy treats?! 🍭🍫🍬

I don’t often read romance, but I do enjoy it as a subgenre to the books I read. I’m curious what are your favourite tropes in romance that get you kicking your feet in the air? 🤭 or more specifically, a cliche/non-cliche scene between the MCs that get you all giggly?
I love it when one of them gets hurt and the other is suddenly beside themselves with worry or beyond pissed and ready to hunt down the person who did the hurting. Hehe. 😛

we talk a lot about great adaptations or books that need to be made into movies. but what book do you think would make a terrible movie, and why ?
I was thinking about this because I’m currently reading Benjamin Stevenson’s Ernest Cunningham series. and like, I’d love to see a fun, playful murder mystery like this on screen but the self-aware, conversational voice of the narrator is what really makes the book, and I just can’t picture how that would translate to a movie.
have you ever read a book and thought : "this could never work on screen" ?

As per title: when and where do you read the best? Not only the best, but you also enjoy it the most? Do you have any rituals, like always a candle on etc.? And also… why?
I love to see how different people might be!

I never know what to answer when I see questions about book boyfriends because I don't see any one character as a potential partner. So I was wondering if maybe I'm taking it a bit too literal and it just means favorite character? I'd love to read your thoughts on this.

Someone you are still thinking about and searching for vibe references on Pinterest. Xaden and bat boys don't count!🤭 I still think about Blake from Wolf King series and Ryan Shay from The right move 🖤

i guess this would be considered a niche but i would really like to see more family sagas within fantasy. i made a small list of what i could find but even after searching online, mainly through reddit, there really aren’t that many books that fit that criteria. so it got me thinking - do you have a favourite niche or subgenre or just lesser explored idea that you would like to see more of? maybe within your fave genre?

Spooky Season is coming and I'm once again trying to fit in as many horror books as possible and would love recommendations! Straight up gore isn't always my cup of tea, but I devour all things unsettling, creepy, horrifying, and eerie.
A few faves for example:
T. Kingfisher (literally everything) The Reformatory - Tananarive Due My Darling Dreadful Thing - Johanna van Veen Into the Drowning Deep - Mira Grant The Buffalo Hunter Hunter - Stephen Graham Jones

I’ve always been a journal girly and have been following many others in the community for years. I’ve seen a rise of people sharing their reading journals and I’m currently contemplating starting one. I’m intrigued to find out how many people on here keep one. If you do, what sort of things do you track or journal about? Do you create your own or buy a pre-designed one? How do you typically use your reading journal? What are your favourite things about your journal? Would love to hear any other insights you can offer as I start planning what I’d like to capture in mine 📖
