Post from the Scream with Me: Horror Films and the Rise of American Feminism (1968-1980) forum
The downside of reading books like this is being reminded that Phyllis Schlafly was indeed a real person and not some sort of cartoon super villain. Always at the scene of the crime doing the bare maximum to completely screw over women and minorities. It is truly insane how consistently in the wrong and hateful she was. It would be impressive if it wasn’t so fucking bleak.
Laughing (i.e. crying) at the fact that the ERA was initially met with near unanimous approval but because women aren’t a priority (hell, barely even a thought) they dragged their feet on ratifying it. Anti-feminists like Schlafly were able to spread their poison and the deadline passed three votes short for ratification. Decades later and nothing’s changed.

he [Ellis] thought that bisexual people ... had an inferiority complex that led to them being artistic.
Ellis probably:
are you 🫵 artistic? are you 🫵 bisexual? if so, studies show you are most likely suffering from an inferiority complex!
