The worldbuilding in this is so complex and dense that, even though the events move fairly quickly, I find myself reading this in little 5% increments. Even the amount of names introduced have me spinning. (It doesn't help that I'm not familiar with the music terms so that adds to the new to me things I'm trying to keep track off ^^'.)
The setup is very interesting as is the worldbuilding, combining the metal music world with necromancy like magic, but I do hope this picks up more and becomes less dense as we go on.
I'm also wondering if this matter of factly writing style without any prose or deeper emotional context is common for Brandon Sanderson his work (since this is my first book by either of them) or that it's more Peter Orullian his writing style coming through š¤.
