For me, character development plays a big role in the story's progress, always. I’ll follow emotionally complex characters even through a slower plot. But having a bit of both is so important overall for the book, otherwise the whole book will be so plain and bland. SO I GUESS BIT OF BOTH

When he gets too possessive for her. The interaction between Luca and Bastien feels so fun lol the way Luca makes Bastien see reasons.

This was such a fun dark romantic comedy. Fake dating is one of my favorite tropes, and this one just started out completely off the rails. The banter between the characters was great. I’m really looking forward to the next book in this series.

I’ve heard that most resolutions drop by the second Friday in Jan, so I’m curious how people are doing now we’re a month in! Any new favourites as a result of a resolution? A change in genre now we’re moving into February? Is January a wash and the new year is taking place at the end of the month instead?
Personally, non-fiction reading was a miss this month, but I did watch a fun documentary about penguins! 🐧 I’m aiming to read about embroidery in February, it’s a long-standing hobby but I don’t know much about the history of it. Wishing everyone the best with your bookish goals!

The growth we see in Fleur and Bastien from book 1 to book 2 is honestly so beautiful to witness 🖤 Their character development feels real, emotional, and earned.
At times, Fleur’s hesitation can be frustrating because you just want her to move forward already. But when you truly understand where she’s coming from and everything she’s been through, her fear and resistance make complete sense. Her healing isn’t rushed, and I really loved it.
The twists, turns, and emotional progress in Fleur and Bastien’s relationship play a huge role in the story. Watching them slowly confront their fears, break down their walls, and finally begin to accept their feelings for each other was incredibly satisfying 🥹
Bastien completely stole my heart in this book. He is an absolute sweetheart and such a perfect morally grey hero who loves Fleur with his whole heart 🥰 We also get deeper insight into his past when he was a kid, and seeing what shaped him into the man he is now was truly heartbreaking. It added so much depth to his character and made me love him even more.
And that plot twist and ending… WOW 😳😳😬🤯 It completely shifted the direction of the story but in the right direction, I would say and left me wanting more.
This book was emotional, intense, and beautifully written, and it made me even more invested in this series.
Cannot wait to start Book 3!!!!!!! 🔥📖

Accidentally Yours by Christina Lauren really said “what if one tiny email mistake spirals into destiny?” and I ate it UP 😭💌💻
First of all… HOW did I not know Christina Lauren is actually two authors??? My brain short-circuited for a second. Two queens in a trench coat writing chaos and romance?? Iconic. Anyway. Moving on.
This was so adorable and funny in that slightly unhinged rom-com way I live for. Her accidentally interrupting his Zoom call had me physically cringing and giggling at the same time. The secondhand embarrassment? Exquisite. And then she just… gets a job out of it?? Girl turned mortification into employment. Career goals honestly 💼😂
And the way she specifically asked for a desk chair??? I don’t know why that detail sent me into orbit but it did. Something about the audacity. The practicality. The confidence. I was SOLD. 🪑🤣
The banter was sharp, the chemistry was there, and the whole thing felt warm and swoony without losing the humor. It’s one of those reads that just feels light in your hands but still gives you all the cute little heart flutters.
4,5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨
