I finally understood what's wrong with the amount of side characters. This is her fanfic past speaking, the way they're just there and shallow is because she's used to just placing characters in the background and have people care about them because they already know them

  • People over 30yo, why do you read YA?

I’m intrigued about why readers over 30 years old enjoy YA books. I don’t read YA myself, as the dialogue I've looked through felt somewhat immediate/childish, and I thought the themes would suit younger readers, yet I see intense violence and sex being quite frequent in those books. What pulls you into YA? Characters, pacing, or something unique? I'm genuinely curious, and would love to hear your thoughts in a friendly chat! 😊 Maybe you'll manage to convince me to try and read some YA.

    So this is annoying me

Like, WE GET IT. We already understood there is an age gap, ok?? No need to emphasize it every five pages, jeez!! 😮‍💨 Can I like these characters and dislike the author at the same time?

I feel like this might be jussst the right amount of taboo, count me in! 🤭 I'm having trouble picturing the male lead though, are you guys imagining someone in particular?

  • The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue
How similar are her other books to this?

I loved this book when I read it a few years ago but based purely on my own assumptions by looking at the blurbs of her other books, it seems like it's probably quite different to her others. Should I give anything else by her a chance?

  • Book Covers with Real People/Photos: Why the Aversion?

Hey, Pagebound readers! I've noticed something about book covers that really bugs me: those featuring real people/photographs. Whether it's a face staring out or a posed figure, I get an instant aversion, and I suspect I'm not alone. I can’t quite explain why... maybe it’s too direct or breaks the imagination’s spell? If you also get this reaction, what’s behind it for you? Do you get through it and read the book anyway? The truth is that I've never ever read a book with a cover like that, even though I understand there are many great books behind those covers... I simply can't get past it. Can you help me unpack why these covers turn some people off? What about them clashes with the reading experience? 📚

There were some good elements in this book. I liked the protagonist and also enjoyed the idea of the connected cities and portals. However... That's pretty much it. I feel like the book had potential to be good but the story was just not it. It felt forced. Too bad, I had high expectations because I loved Addie Larue. I will still try reading more books from this author.

    The Fall ReRead Begins

My sister-in-law was rewatching the movies for the first time in years, absolutely floored by the actual plot and how much she forgot. Then, she told me she’d NEVER read the books, and obviously I said “They’re a train wreck, you need to read them.” So we’re starting a buddy-read! I’m excited to introduce her to the chaos that is the Twilight book 🫶🏼

This series is a very nice reading. Fun characters, a nice pace and decent plot. I'll keep reading! I love Lia and Sloane, they're the best ❤️❤️

  • what's the last book that made you cry?

Sometimes I'm in the mood for a good cry. I think the last book that made me cry was A Man Called Ove by Fredrik Backman, which I was not expecting. I'm currently reading Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner, and I already know there will be tears.

Looking to read more of her books but which ones and when? I listened to Daisy Jones and the Six a couple of years ago and liked it a lot. I’ve got Carrie Soto, Atmosphere, and Seven Husbands on my tbr. Curious to know if anyone has thoughts on what to go with first? Also book vs audio? Got those Spotify hours to use! I sort of want to know what mood or vibes each gives off. Might help me decide.

This book was basically Sanderson feeding me crumbs here and there, and hundreds of pages of slow dragging in between. Except the crumbs were SO delicious that made everything worth it. 100%
