An introduction to the Romance genre, these books are part of the cultural zeitgeist or the 'canon' that many would recognize. Look for more niche titles in later Starter Pack volumes.

Rowan grinds his teeth so often i'm surprised he has any left (for reference clenching and grinding teeth was mentioned three (3) times in one page)

I'm getting bored which sucks because I really do like zahra and rowan's dynamic... it's just kind of getting repetitive, and I think the book is too long for the type of content it contains. I'm going to stick it out and continue reading because i'm curious to see what the downfall is going to be in the third act, but i honestly don't have high expectations!

I haven’t read a trashy straight romance in a whileeee so I forgot how much I need to suspend my beliefs to enjoy it LOL no insult to the author but having Zahra pinch Rowan when she had met him 5 mins earlier and has no idea who he is lmao?? Who tf does that, especially in a work meeting
Besides that I’m enjoying and can’t wait to indulge

WHAT a beautiful book, it takes place over the course of two-ish decades and boy does it not drag on OR jump around too much. It’s very much a “slice of life” feel, in which Alexander Rostov, the Count, spends political house arrest in the Metropol Hotel. His shenanigans and plentiful friendships kept me engaged, and I did not lose interest at any point, despite how long the book is. I absolutely adored the varying characters and just how nuanced and diverse they are. I found myself so sad to finish it, because I didn’t want it to ever end. I would have loved to read an infinite amount. Towles does a phenomenal job of bringing the characters towards the audience, making us feel as if we’re truly connected to them.
The genre is one of a kind, ranging from hilarious one liners to deeply touching, earnest emotions. Although the stakes are rarely very high, the excellent Towles makes them feel like they’re important anyways.
This is a book I would love to reread every couple years, simply to see how it affects me differently.
Also, as a side note, the Count is a very well read aristocrat, and he frequently quotes or references classics, which I was delighted to find out I knew and had read lol!!
