Honestly, my mind is foggy so I have no clue if I have asked this question yet 😂 This is one of my favourite questions I see, I love seeing all of the different/similar opinions for this one!
✨ What is your LEAST favourite book trope and why?
For me it definitely has to be memory loss tropes. Nope, cannot stomach them. Memory loss tropes have me stressing the whole time, I’m more stressed than the actual characters are 😩 I don’t think I have ever enjoyed a memory loss trope, I personally just do not see the appeal in them

I'm curious, how annoyed are you all by typos, grammatical and spelling errors? I'm somewhat tolerant towards typos if there's not many, spelling errors irk me and grammatical errors straight up enrage me. Especially in books which are otherwise good.
[This post is sponsored by the Polish edition of Sanderson's Oathbringer (part 2) in which I found 3 errors page 200 (2x grammar, 1x spelling)... Stormfather only knows how many I missed]

I read it after randomly coming across it because I loved the title. I haven't read the first part of the series but it's not a problem as it works perfectly well as a stand alone book. It was engaging and entertaining. If I were to nitpick I would say it's not really "Her Majesty the Queen Investigates", but more "Rosie investigates with a some help/guidance from the Queen". But I won't nitpick, because it was such a lovely read :)

I read this a while back and all I can say is that I don't get the hype around this book. The world building was interesting, some characters were interesting, others not so much. The plot felt very uneven and ending seemed extremely rushed. I also found the romance between the main characters completely unconvincing... perhaps because I disliked both of them.

I am struggling. This was supposed to be funny but it's getting tiresome.

I love doing the yearly challenge, it really motivates me to read. I have a bookshelf filled with many books in a variety of sizes, but at heart, I always prefer big, intricate book. But they take a long time to read, so I find myself behind on my yearly goal, and I end up reading smaller books to catch up even if I’m not in the mood for it.
So I’ve been thinking, has anyone tried doing a yearly challenge based on pages read instead of books read? If so, how do you go about it? Now with the new monthly stats it would be easier to keep track of it too.

One of my major pet peeves in literary circles is the way some classics readers pretend there is no such thing as "personal taste" when it comes to classic literature. we should all love and cherish every work of classic literature equally, or we're imbeciles incapable of comprehending the profound themes and nuances in [insert author's name] work.
For example, I get weird looks every time I say that Dostoyevsky is not my favorite Russian author. I can at least think of four other authors that come first. Every time this is brought up, there is someone who goes, "Uh... you know he was a literary giant, right?" No, Jessica. Thank you for enlightening me that the most famous Russian author is indeed really famous.
Feel free to share your reader pet peeves I enjoy reading them:))

Hi! I need to touch grass today, and maybe you do too.
What's your earliest positive memory of reading?
Reading has been complicated for me. My relationship with it has changed a lot over time, with some starts and stops along the way. But one memory still feels really warm.
I remember being six and learning to read. In class, we would move up to the next reader book after successfully finishing the one before it. I used to stay after school so I could keep working through whatever level I was on.
I also remember going into my school library and discovering the American Girl books. I can still remember the smell of the library, the feel of those books, and the crinkly sound of the plastic covers the librarian put on them.
It was such a simple, wholesome kind of joy. I miss that feeling.
What about you? What's one of your earliest happy reading memories?
